I am very skeptical of men’s leather belts these days. Most people know that the word leather has lost most of its meaning, with almost everything from jackets to sofas, from shoes to car seats being made from man-made reconstituted ground up leather scraps mixed with fillers and chemicals and formed into the final shape. Many of these manufacturers even use the word real because it contains a small percentage of scrap leather. For some products I might not care but imitation leather belts cannot and will not ever be in the same league as the real thing. Only real top-grain real hide is flexible enough to make a belt and only real leather ages to look and feel comfortable.
This company uses the words boot leather, which in itself doesn’t mean much – boots can be made out of anything. But they do use the words top-grain, which can only be used to describe real leather. And that is the only reason I ordered it.
When I received it I was half expecting to find an imitation leather belt. But here’s the good news, this is the real deal and they make a big point of saying that on an attached tag and on the belt itself. And here’s the better news, this real leather belt goes for less that many of those that are man-made.
I’ve just thrown out 8 belts that I bought thinking they were real leather that barely lasted six months. I have confidence this one will last a lot longer.

This belt is very eye catching. It was thinner than I expected and my first thought was “This won’t last very long”. I don’t usually write reviews until I have had the time to test the item against time. This belt has exceeded my expectations. It was far stronger than expected, there is no fraying, stripping weak points that I can see and after months of use, still looks new. I got it on sale during prime week for less than $20, Money well spent.

This is a sturdy, good quality leather belt. It does have “raw” cut edges, which may not appeal to some people, but I personally don’t like the plastic/glued edges that are common on many other leather belts.

I purchased the belt by size thinking (incorrectly) that I was buying the length of the belt and not the waist size of the person wearing the belt. I didn’t read the product description very well, where it says to order the next size up from the actual waist size, so the belt I got ended up being several inches too long. But that is easily corrected with a quick application of some sharp scissors. And since the edges are raw cut already, it didn’t even affect the appearance of the belt.

The one negative, and the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, is that the black dye from the edges of my belt transferred to the brown khaki pants that I wore shortly after I received the belt. The dye came out of the cloth in a normal laundry cycle so it’s not a huge problem, but it is something to be aware of. I definitely wouldn’t recommend wearing this belt with very light colored clothing, at least not until the dye has had time to set into the leather better – or transfer onto dark clothing where it won’t matter.

This belt is a very substantial piece of leather and has a nice solid brass buckle! I have worn it for a few months and it’s just now starting to soften up a bit – as you would expect from a real leather belt. I will agree with the other reviewers who said it is sized small – definitely order 1 or 2 sizes above your normal waist size. Leather does stretch over its lifetime, so just make sure it’s not *too* big on you to start! Highly recommend this belt for those who want something strong and durable.

  5. Ron John

This belt fully met all my expectations. The leather is substantial in thickness and supple.
The stitching is white and precise with double rows of stitching at both edges and meeting at the tongue.
The belt is finished in a smooth satin black with an embossed Timberland logo near the matt silver metal buckle. It works well as a casual wear belt or as a nicer appearing work belt.
The sizing is accurate with the advice to order the size which is 2 inches longer that your waist measurement. The belt has five punched holes for the buckle tang. The manufacturer intends for your fit to be the center hole of the five, which allows for the required overlap when worn.
    A winner!

this belt is really made nicely. its made of genuine leather you can see it on the video i attached. just got it for my boyfriend for Christmas. has a nice sturdy heavy belt buckle and the belt seems to be made well, hoping this will last quite a while for him. this belt is 36 inches long and its true to size.

  7. Grizz

I’m fussy about my belts. They have to be well made from real leather, stitched along the entire length, with rounded edges on a quality buckle. This one has all those features. Since I usually have to spend $60-80 on a quality belt, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Fit was perfect. Wore it for week, then applied a good coat of saddlesoap. The color didn’t rub off. Unless I get it wet, won’t have to do that again. Hard to beat for twenty bucks.

  8. Keogh

You can spend a lot on a belt these days. All things considered, this is a great price point. The belt is solid and has the same construction that Timberland provides in their other products (boots, shoes, etc.).

  9. dumpys rusty nut

great full leather belt nice finish and the buckle is solid.
compared to a lot of modern belts this is rigid and will take a while to eventually form to your body.
Quality that you would expect from timberland.
will be getting a black one soon
